Highlights from 2010

Some of my favorite things from our life in the year 2010...

  •  My best friend got engaged and married! I went to Portland for wedding dress shopping in March and Alaska for a beautiful wedding in August.  I actually got to see Nikki 4 times this year!

  • We went on a great family vacation this summer to New York and on our first cruise up to Canada!  (Ray loves cruises now and talks about going on more - and he always loves visiting NYC!)

  • My brother married sweet Cinelle in September in Central Park in New York City and we had a wonderful time during our trip there.
  • A good time in the mountains hiking for memorial day.

  • We got pregnant with our first sweet baby boy Coleman Russell Parrish. AND he did NOT make his presence in 2010 but is still in the womb and will either be a January or February baby.

  • I moved into a new classroom at a brand new school and started teaching a new curriculum that I love!
  •  I got to spend time with my aunt Janet in Kentucky before she went to be with the Lord.
  • SNOW! snow on my birthday in February and snow the day after Christmas!

  • We welcomed our first nephew into the world.  Brody Mason Parrish was born on November 5th.

Christmas I

We had a great time with family at Christmas this year!  We were sad to miss some of the extended family gatherings but we had fun with family that came to our house.

My sister and brother and their families came to visit the weekend before Christmas.  We had dinner and watched Elf and opened presents.  Kate was super excited about the presents!

She got a tutu and showed us her dance moves!

Cole got some new clothes and a ball!

Laura and I got a great new cookbook.

Skye was worn out.  He cuddled up under the Christmas tree.

Kate and Uncle Stephen being silly.

30 Weeks!

"And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.  You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it."  John 14:13-14

Today is a great day! I've prayed to make it to this day and still be pregnant so many times.  There were so many days I didn't feel like it would happen.  My doctor really wanted us to make it at least to this day.  The chances for a baby to live and have no long term problems increases to 99% at 30 weeks.  Today is one of the milestones we have been praying for and I feel very thankful.  The Lord has answered my prayers.  How sweet are his words.  He is faithful and powerful and continually increases my faith.

A Night Out!

My sweet friends from church threw a shower for me and Coleman last Friday night.  My friend Danielle lives 2 houses down from me so we had it there.  I was so excited to get to leave my house for something other than a doctor's visit!  It was so much fun and so special.

These girls are so creative and they made this dessert shower look so fabulous!

The had tons of green and blue candy there!  I didn't really get to walk around and see it all since I was confined to the recliner :) but after looking through some pictures I wish I had taken more candy home!

My sweet class made me a card!
I felt so loved and blessed after this night!  Thank you to Anne, Ashley, Danielle, and Kitty for making it so special!  I enjoyed my one night out!!!! :)

Thanks to Ashley's sister Erin for taking so many great photos at the shower and thanks to Ashley for letting me re post them!

29 weeks and holding...

Today I am 29 weeks and 2 days pregnant.  Only 5 more days until we hit 30 weeks! I went to the doctor today.  There was no change from last week and we feel great about it!  We also got to see our sweet baby boy on the ultrasound today.  They checked to make sure he was growing.  He measured perfect and weighs aprox. 2 lbs 9 oz now.  His heart, kidneys, and everything else looked good and he is definitely a boy! We didn't get any good pictures of him because his head is so far down and he is so low.  He moves all the time in my belly but his head has been down low pressing on my cervix for at least the last 3 weeks.  We love him so much and can't wait to meet him even though we are praying that his arrival is a ways off!

This morning...

This week has been a week of learning and growing in my faith in the Lord.  I've had some anxious days and days where I just feel discouraged and scared about what might happen.  The Lord was with me this week and encouraged me through his word and through some sweet friends and their words of encouragement.  Here are some scriptures I've been praying through this morning.  My heart is at peace today because I know that our God is greater than any other.

"The Lord will fight for you,
you need only to be still"
Exodus 14:14

"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens."  Psalm 68:19

"The Lord your God is with you.
He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you.
he will quiet you with his love
he will rejoice over you with singing."
Zephaniah 3:17

"The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you;  He will be with you.  he will not fail you or forsake you.  Do not fear or be dismayed."
Deuteronomy 31:8

"My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place.  When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
Your eyes  saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be."
Psalm 139:15-16
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God."
Psalm 20:7

A Christmas Treat!

My sweet friend Nikki came to visit me right after Thanksgiving.  She lives in Alaska and came all the way down south to help take care of me for a week.  It was so fun to have her here!

She cooked a lot of yummy food this week!
She also decorated my house for Christmas!

It was such a blessing to have her here all week.  I feel very encouraged and relaxed.   Thank you for coming Nikki!
